Our Mission

The Uptown Chabad for Young Professionals is a community located in the Charlotte center city for young Jews in their 20s and 30s. Regardless of one’s background or connection to things Jewish, our commitment is to ensure that every Jew has a place to connect with other young Jews, on their terms. Social, learning, and volunteer events are provided to engage and inspire in a warm and personal setting.

Our History

Uptown Chabad for Young Professionals was founded in November 2015 through a grant by the Meromim Foundation. At the time, a new initiative was started to create exclusive Young Professional Jewish Communities, with full time staff and a Rabbi. Inspired by the vision of the Rebbe that every Jew on their own level, regardless of their religious observance, temple affiliation or lack thereof, should be engaged to connect with their Jewish faith.

Our Method

We provide events in a variety of sizes and structures. A Chanukah party with over 140 attendees attracts new transplants and the unaffiliated. Intimate Shabbat Dinners in our home, (an average of 35 attendees) grows our community, creates new friendships, and when we're lucky, pairs a new Jewish couple. Monthly Pizza, Wine, and Learning events nourishes those who want to learn more about their faith. Authentic and uncompromising Jewish traditions packaged in glamorous and relevant events and experiences strengthen our young professionals' connection to Judaism, giving them a new perspective on the importance and beauty of a Jewish community.
